a visit from home

The lovely Lou graced me with her presence today and I couldn't be happier about it. We had french toast and pancakes for lunch at The Breakfast Club in Angel which has definitely become my favourite place to dine. I get excited over eating breakfast food at times when normal people are eating what they should be.

We updated one another on the happenings of the past three months, and for a moment I felt quite at home, with my Lou only a tiny table length away.

i'm in love with a stripper

In 33 degree heat on Monday I gave up on trying to get Kennedy to keep her clothes on and let her be. I did manage to convince her to keep her boots on, which mind you is never a difficult task. She loves her boots and I love her. And her thighs, her thighs!

Yesterday I was standing in the kitchen when I heard hysterical laughter coming from the playroom. I went to investigate and found Bryce sitting on the floor looking at Moo Moo (the dog), who he had put on a shelf. I told him to get her down and then returned to the kitchen. Only moments later I heard more giggling. This time Moo Moo was nowhere to be seen. I noticed Bryce's eyes shift to the yellow laundry hamper with the duck's head lid. I lifted the lid to find the dog amongst the toys that sat at the bottom of the hamper. "The duck ate Moo Moo!" he chuckled. I couldn't help but laugh myself before putting my serious face on again and telling Bryce that Moo Moo doesn't like to be put in the toy basket.

once upon a time..

Tyler and I have collaboratively made two books over the past couple of days. With a little of his input, I write the stories and he does the illustrations (Knights and Monsters isn't quite finished yet). He thinks we should donate them to the library so that other kids can read them too. I told him that was a great idea, though secretly I'd like to keep them for myself! I'm quite proud of them, as is Tyler. He and Bryce made me read Knights and Monsters to them twice when I put them to bed on Thursday evening.

how do you sleep? how do you sleep at night?

I answered a knock at my bedroom door this afternoon to find Jodi with the giggles. "Sorry to disturb," she said "but you have to see the way Kennedy is sleeping."
You also have to see it..

the longest day of the year

Yesterday was apparently the longest day of the year. The sun didn't set until almost eleven o'clock in the evening. I watched it sink from the window of Jodi's bedroom while I howled love tunes with the wind that was a blowin' about the streets outside.
